    WHY SHOULD I GET AI-ENABLED CAMERAS FOR MY FLEET?

    Traditional dash camera systems merely capture video footage of what's happening on the road and in the vehicle for future viewing by a human. However, humans have to go through lots of video footage to find what they are looking for and then act on it after-the-fact.

    Dash camera systems that use Artificial Intelligence (in the form of machine vision) understand what is happening in real-time, without human input. Thus, they not only provide the video footage, but they also create the “event” data that is used to direct the driver to change their behaviour immediately and to also precisely direct driver managers as to what is important to look at.

    By channelling relevant information directly to drivers in real-time and driver managers after-the-fact, AI-enabled dash cameras offer a much more effective and efficient way of improving and maintaining safe and fuel-efficient driving standards.

    CAN I CHOOSE WHICH RISKY DRIVING BEHAVIOURS TO MONITOR?

    All transport fleets are different and have different problems, needs, and constraints. As the fleet manager, you can choose which risky driving behaviour events you want to monitor. The road-facing camera can detect unsignaled lane changes, unsafe following distance, and alert on imminent forward collision.

    The driver-facing camera can detect fatigue, distraction, mobile phone use, not wearing a seatbelt, and smoking.

    The fleet manager can request that certain events are disabled if they are not needed. In our experience with customers' implementation of driver monitoring solutions, some customers prefer to start with a simple configuration and let that bed-in and be accepted by drivers before turning on additional features. MiX Vision AI also allows for this approach. Note that in addition to the risky driving behaviours detected by MiX Vision AI, there are also poor driving performance behaviours that are detected by the MiX Onboard Computer such as speeding, harsh braking, harsh acceleration, and harsh cornering.

    WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE MIX VISION AI CAMERAS?

    MiX Vision AI is a camera system that uses Artificial Intelligence to deliver Advanced Driving Assistance (ADAS) capabilities. MiX Vision AI can detect risky driving behaviour including mobile phone use, fatigue, distraction, not wearing a seatbelt, smoking, unsignaled lane departure, unsafe following distance and warn of an imminent forward collision.

    The instant risky driving behaviour is detected, the driver is alerted through an audible or visual alert (or both) that they need to correct their behaviour before it escalates into a collision.     HOW DO I VIEW VIDEO FOOTAGE?

    You can view MiX Vision AI video footage (alongside asset information) in MiX Fleet Manager under ‘Live tracking', ‘Historical tracking', ‘Trip timeline', or in the Info Hub.

    Video footage for each detected event is automatically downloaded from the vehicle in 8 second segments for each event. The manager can also make a Video on Demand request for a 2 minute 30 second segment of footage if they want to see more activities leading up to and after a specific event, or even when no event was detected. This is useful for collision reconstruction and insurance claims.

    Driver managers can also lookout for video footage of risky driving behaviours in the MiX Mobile app. Drivers have access to the MyMiX driver engagement app to view their score, trips, events, and video footage.

    TRIP REPORTS AND VEHICLE UTILIZATION

    MiX Insight Reports give the fleet manager access to various reports allowing for trend analysis. Reports provide detail on driver behaviour and fuel consumption, for example, so that these aspects can be effectively managed. Reports available include asset movement reports, movements into and out of locations, driver scoring, event violations and cost analysis reports.
