With electric vehicles becoming more prevalent and easily accessible than ever before alongside the increased global pressure on companies to decrease their carbon emissions, it’s no longer a question of if you’re going to be including electric vehicles in your fleet, it’s a matter of when.
To give a perspective on how quickly the electric vehicle market is growing, only 120,000 electric vehicles were sold in 2012 worldwide. In 2021, sales of electric vehicles doubled and in the first quarter of 2022 alone, 2 million were sold.
This is up 75% from the same period in 2021. Currently, there are 16.5 million electric vehicles on the world’s roads, and nearly 10% of global car sales were electric in 2021, four times the market share in 20191.
