Engineering giant Mota-Engil in Malawi has joined SABOT Management Ltd in Zimbabwe on MiX Telematics’ growing list of fleet customers in Africa. Thanks to long-standing partner, Sendem Transport Technology, MiX Telematics now monitors around 800 of SABOT’s truck fleet, while more recently – in collaboration with North End Motors in Malawi – 150 on-board computers were installed to monitor Mota-Engil’s fleet.
MiX Telematics recently launched MiX Fleet Mobile v.3.0, a unified mobile application that supports both the iPhone and iPad. MiX Fleet Mobile is designed to put customers in control of their fleets while they’re on the go. The improved v.3.0 is now available for download directly from the Apple App Store. Earlier versions of MiX Fleet for iPad should be deleted and replaced with MiX Fleet Mobile v.3.0, which is fully compatible with iOS 6 and the iPhone 5.
MiX Telematics continues to grow its business around the world as evidenced by strong performance in the first half of its 2012/13 financial year as announced yesterday. Due to the extension of existing enterprise contracts as well as the addition of new mega fleets across various industries in various countries, MiX Telematics increased its revenue by 20.3% (to R564 million) and its operating profit by an impressive 60.8% (to R76 million) in comparison to the same period a year ago.
MiX Telematics, a business focused on all levels of vehicle telematics, including driver safety, fleet management, vehicle tracking and recovery services, was awarded a noteworthy fourth place in the annual Financial Mail Top Companies Survey at a gala event held on 28 June 2012.
This is the first year in which MiX Telematics have been included in the Top Companies survey and is attributed to the earnings growth experienced over the past year, pushing the market capitalization to R1.2 billion, above the R1 billion minimum for inclusion in the survey. The annual survey showcases companies that have excelled in spite of prevailing challenging market conditions and have outperformed their respective sectors.
MiX Telematics recently released their final results for the year ended 30 June 2012, which saw revenue increase by 14.7% and operating profit grow by 24.8%. Adjusted headline earnings and earnings per share also rose by 33.3% and 44.4%, respectively.
