Putting driver safety at the forefront of fleet operations.
Research has shown that over 80% of vehicle accidents are caused by human error.
MiX SafeDrive is an integrated safety solution that targets this problem by:
- Training drivers in defensive driving techniques,
- Providing In-Vehicle Monitoring Systems (IVMS) that are able to monitor driver performance, identify unsafe behaviors, and provide audible alerts,
- Offering safety consultants with the ability to help establish, review and audit systems, processes and strategies related to Land Transport Safety.
A fully implemented and supported MiX SafeDrive solution is guaranteed to improve driver safety and reduce accident rates, while lowering risk, liability and cost.
IVMS, targeted driver training and consulting services, combined in one integrated solution.
IVMSAn In-Vehicle Monitoring System (IVMS) is an easy but effective way of measuring driver performance. It helps provide insight into drivers who demonstrate high-risk behavior, and is also a valuable tool to recognize and reward consistently good behavior. Features work in two ways: Firstly, in-vehicle alerts immediately notify drivers of their performance, giving them the opportunity to correct unsafe behavior. Secondly, the IVMS captures and records vehicle and driver events and transmits them to MiX Telematics’s online tracking and information portal. This enables fleet and operations managers to make informed decisions in a timely manner.
MiX SafeDrive’s training programs are complementary to the IVMS technology, enabling efficient and effective remedial action to be taken by fleet operators. Driver training comprises specific driver development programs, defensive driver training, heavy vehicle operations, four-wheel drive and recovery techniques, and “Train the Trainer” programs. MiX Telematics has demonstrated the effectiveness of these programs through achievements that include a 72% sustained improvement in driver behavior only six weeks after implementation of a solution, and a 15% cost saving in fuel alone in the first 12 months.
Without in-depth knowledge of road and driver safety practices, reviewing and identifying an operation’s road safety needs can be tricky. MiX Telematics consultants are skilled in this area. They are able to assess all aspects of land transport operations and, based on their findings, make sensible recommendations for future Road Safety Management Systems. Services include Hazard Assessment and Risk Identification (HARI), training course curriculum design and development, industry and best practice advice, and Land Transport Safety audits and reviews.
MiX SafeDrive is proven to increase safety while lowering risk, liability and cost.
Reduced accident rate
By equipping drivers with defensive driving techniques and hazard perception skills, they are able to be more aware of potentially hazardous situations and avoid being involved in a collision.
Improved driver safetyProviding In-Vehicle Monitoring Systems (IVMS) that are able to monitor driver performance, identify unsafe behaviors, and provide audible alerts give drivers the opportunity to improve their driving style. Events are then recorded, allowing for periodic reporting to determine an improvement or decline in a driver’s behavior.
Lower risk, liability and costsA safer fleet that complies with Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) regulations is naturally less of a liability. And with fewer collisions as a result of improved driver behavior, related fleet costs are kept to a minimum.
Increased profitabilityOver time, up to 62% of operating costs can be influenced by the adoption of a solution like MiX SafeDrive. Results like these are primarily achieved through driver behavior management.
