Matrix MX2

MiX Telematics, under it’s stolen vehicle recovery range- Matrix Recovery Service, became one of the first companies to introduce the combined use of GSM and RF technology in vehicle tracking units. To further enhance the tracking and recovery process, the use of GPS technology was then introduced. Our Matrix MX2 uses all three of these technologies to maximize the probability of a successful recovery.

What is the difference in the technologies and how do they work?

GSM

GSM refers to the Global System for Mobile Communications – more commonly known as Cell-Phone Technology. MiX Telematics uses an extensive GSM network across South Africa that enables us to triangulate the position of your vehicle.

RF

The MX2 also supports a Radio Frequency (RF) beacon technology to track the vehicle to its exact location during a recovery.

GPS

GPS refers to the Global Positioning System. This technology is the best form of position accuracy currently available. GPS technology also enables additional features to be generated using these highly accurate positions.
