SAB Miller reduces its carbon footprint with the MiXLAP program

02 March 2010

The world’s second biggest brewery SAB Miller’s beverage production plants in Colombia currently use a fleet of 905 trucks dedicated to the nation-wide distribution of beer. In order to achieve greater efficiency in their distribution routes, lower operating costs and lower CO2 emissions, the vehicles were fitted with the fleet management solution provided by the MiXLAP program. This program is a joint initiative of MiX Telematics and our dealer in Colombia, Equitel.

The positive results generate a substantial increase in vehicle productivity through reduced weathering and repairs, fuel consumption and accidents. Most importantly, it also achieves a positive environmental impact with reduced carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions – which is a priority issue in the industrial world.

That the environmental approach of the MiXLAP program is a highly valued benefit for customers such as SAB Miller was supported by the fact that SAB Miller – based on the success - decided to include 400 Renault Kangoo into the LAP program in December 2009. The goal for this new fleet, which is currently used by the company's merchandising staff, is not only to achieve at least the same results as the other SAB Miller vehicles, but also to reduce accident rates and take advantage of the benefits offered by the driving parameters control system.
