MiX Telematics responds to Competition Tribunal findings

This afternoon we received the unfortunate news that the South African Competition Tribunal found South Africa's major vehicle tracking service providers (including MiX Telematics) guilty of uncompetitive behaviour by setting standards which created barriers to entry for other competitors.
We participated in VESA (the Vehicle Security Association of South Africa) at the request of the South African Insurance industry to help protect Insurers and Consumers from vendors selling stolen vehicle recovery systems that fell short of industry and international best practice. The VESA board comprised numerous tracking companies, not limited to the "big three", and each had an equal say in the setting of the standards.
Our participation was done in good faith for the benefit of the consumer and for no gain on our part. We remain committed to using the best technology and operating standards to ensure our clients get a high quality service that they can depend on in their time of need.
