MiX Telematics Limited (MiX) today announced its interim results for the six months ended 30 September 2008. “Halfway through our first full year of operations as a merged and listed entity, we are satisfied with the progress the group has made toward achieving both our short and medium-term objectives,” said MiX CEO, Stefan Joss. In this period the group remained active on the acquisition front, completing two major transactions after the initial acquisition of OmniBridge at listing in November 2007.

MiX Telematics has added a simple-but-effective in-cab driver aid designed to further help improve fuel economy, enhance safety and reduce vehicle wear and tear to its FM300 telematics system. Known as the RIBAS™ Display, the new device is a dashboard-mounted array of five LEDs which illuminate whenever the driver exceeds a pre-programmed vehicle parameter. Each LED is positioned alongside its corresponding letter, where:
R = over Revving
I = excessive Idling
B = harsh Braking
A = harsh Acceleration
S = over Speeding

Thursday, 25 September: At its AGM on 16 September, JSE listed TeliMatrix Limited, passed all resolutions necessary to change the company name to MiX Telematics. TeliMatrix’s vision, echoed during its listing in November 2007, was to be a leading global provider of information and related services. Stefan Joss, MiX Telematics CEO says “We are an established annuity-driven information provider, a Mobile Information Exchange. This is how ‘MiX Telematics’ was born, with MIX also being our JSE share code.” Joss says that telematics is a known generic term to describe the industry in which the company operates, and fully encapsulates the group’s businesses.

We are pleased to announce that the FM300 Communicator and FM300 Communicator (Battery) have been superceded by our latest generation of on-board computers, namely the FM3316 and FM3306, with immediate effect. This good news means that CAN is now standard on our products and the FM300 Communicator and FM300 Communicator Battery non CAN versions are no longer available for order. And more good news is that the new hardware models are being introduced at the same price as the non CAN versions they replace!
