Philosophy and Focus
MiX Telematics believes education is the cornerstone of upliftment and the socio-economic development of South Africa. We therefore support local efforts focusing on education and training initiatives within previously disadvantaged communities.
SAPS Widows and Orphans Fund
MiX Telematics has been involved with the SAPS Widows and Orphans fund for a number of years. As a company we wanted to assist in an area relevant to our industry, thus the decision to get involved with this organization. The women and children benefitting from this fund are those most affected by crime. Their husbands and fathers have paid the ultimate price in keeping our community safe.
Over the last couple of years, we contributed to the fund directly. More recently we identified promising children on an academic and sporting level and assisted them financially to ensure they are able to thrive and develop to their true potential. These children ranged from Grade 4 to Grade 8, a promising little cricketer is also one of the beneficiaries.
We management also involved their staff, by way of voluntary contributions on a monthly basis. These amounts are then matched by the company - doubling the benefit to the Widows and Orphans.
Miracle Drive
The Miracle Drive project consists of worldwide contributions from companies to provide quality health services, locally and abroad, to all people without access to such care and there is a special emphasis on disadvantaged children. The Miracle Fund is committed to continue this tradition of using all monies to help the people most in need, and to help them help themselves through education and income producing co-operatives.
The Miracle Drive supports all people who have little or no access to health care, without regard to finances, politics, race or religion. No one should have to suffer in silence with their pain, regardless of who they are.
"The journey of a thousand miles is begun with one step" is their motto.
Every year during the Miracle Drive Ball, MiX Telematics makes a substantial donation to assist those in need of social and medical care. These funds are used to uplift communities and provide assistance where direly needed.
Choc Childhood Cancer Foundation

Pebbles Foundation
The Pebbles Project was established in 2004 to offer support to children with special educational needs, particularly those whose lives are affected by alcohol in some way, in the Western Cape of South Africa. Pebbles works closely with several wine farm owners to uplift their farm worker communities and aid in the education of the workers' children. Pebbles also supports township crèches.
MiX Telematics is sponsoring a unit for the charity organisation's bus, ensuring safety for the children being transported to and from high risk areas and peace of mind for the parents and volunteers at the Pebbles Foundation. Thanks to MiX Telematics's donation, the Pebbles Foundation knows the location of the bus at any given point in time and deters drivers from bad driver behaviour such as speeding, which puts the childrens' lives at risk.

Soweto Youth and Development Projects
MiX Telematics assisted in upgrading Ekukhanyeni crèche as one of the projects managed by Soweto Youth and Development Projects. Phase 1 has been completed by MiX Telematics proving the funds for the Ekukhanyeni crèche to upgrade their facilities. To date, the new kitchen has been built and the old kitchen has been converted to an additional toilet block for the children. Phase 2 involves the setting up of a computer resource centre providing internet and other infrastructure to the children of this community which will be implemented in the near future.
